The MobiGuide project team met on 16th June in Pavia, Northern Italy to hold the 8th MobiGuide consortium meeting, hosted by Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri Clinica del Lavoro e della Riabilitazione (FSM).
The main topic was to discuss and plan the MobiGuide pilots and handle the issues arising. A pre-pilot has been running since 1st March and the beginning of April saw the start of the pilots proper. The senior clinicians running the pilots reported on recruitment of patients, the progress so far, problems arising and the reactions of the patients and clinical users so far.
Dr Mercedes Rigla Corporacio Sanitaria Parc Tauli de Sabadell (CSPT) ireported on the GDM pilot in Spain. By the time of the Pavia meeting 5 GDM patients had been recruited at the hospital in Sabadell (the pilot site in Spain).
Dr Carlo Napolitano of Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri Clinica del Lavoro e della Riabilitazione (FSM) reported on progress with the AF trial in Pavia. At that time six AF patients had been enrolled and were using the MobiGuide system (AF application).

Some bugs in the system were encountered and the engineering team worked hard to identify and correct them. Some positive results were achieved within weeks of starting the pilot. Patient reactions were generally positive and for one patient with suspected AF who suffered very occasional palpitations, continuous monitoring by means of the MobiGuide system enabled a new diagnosis of supraventricular tachycardia to be established.
In the morning break a press call was held. One of the AF pilot patients attended. On 20 June an article appeared in the regional newpaper, La Provincia Pavese.
